Seeds for Africa Website
Seeds for Africa (SfA) is a small registered charity that aims to help African families by the provision of indigenous seeds, agricultural equipment and relevant technical advice, giving individuals and communities a future not just a temporary answer.
SfA ensures that the management of the gardens uses the skills of local people, so that the projects do not create a culture of dependency.
With the help of their green-fingered patron, Alan Titchmarsh, they have established over 1,000 projects in 25 countries. Their projects bestow independence and dignity, encourage nutritious diets, and secure reliable sources of food for the future.

What is One Tree? One Tree aims to strengthen SfA's impact by planting fruit trees to alleviate poverty and preserve the natural environment. SfA takes the deforestation of Africa seriously because it affects us all on a global level and contributes directly to global warming.
African forest constitutes more than 17% of the world's forests, but in West Africa 90% of the original forest has gone. In Africa for every 28 trees cut down, only one is replanted. Seeds for Africa believe that every time one tree gets chopped down, another tree should be planted.

Where the money goes. SfA uses donations to plant fruit trees in schools across Africa. For every £5 raised a tree will be planted and for every £250 SfA will be able to plant a Fruit Tree Nursery Garden and young people will become their guardians.

SfA fruit trees also provide a vital source of nutrition and many schools find that they have surplus once they have fed the children and can pay for extra teachers or buy equipment for the school. Nursery Gardens build a legacy for present and future generations.
